Saturday 25th June at Lympsham Showground - Members Only Show
The morning was a nice dry one, which made a
change as we had lots of rain over the past 72hours.
I arrived about 10 30 to find quite a few people already there, which was
a great to see and about 20 members took part.
Rachel Frost had got the jumps out and we set about building a course,
well building jumps for someone else to set the course, not my forte that
area. Many helpers made it a fairly swift job, so I left them to course
building and went to set up the arena for the dressage. I tried to get it
even and to be generous with the dimensions, it's funny how making a 20 x
40 arena can be so difficult without a tape measure!
Rowena arrived with Judge, food, rosettes and
for good measure wore her secretary hat, oh I think she also brought a
dog! Well done Row X
We started more or less on time, about 12, with the Best Turned Out, this
was won by Sophie Bridges and Lapis Luzuli,
Sophie continued with a double by winning the 1,2, & 3 YO class. Becky Hall won class 3 Pony with Ringo, posh name Synod Ringmaster who has been to many a Brent Knoll event. I won class 4 with Tom, posh name Rainbow Faer, class 5 was won by Martine Hazelton & Infinite Risk. Class 6 Vetran was Ringo again, with Miss Bubble at the ripe old age of 25 & Sarah Small taking the rosette for the oldest. Class 7 was Martine who went for a hat trick with class 8 as well. Class 9 saw Carrie Cavill & Calypso take the coloured class. M & M was Ringo again, he's not finished yet. Family horse/pony went to Lou Smith with Top Gun, who I think she's only had for about a week, brave girl. Riding Club horse was won by our secretary Rachel Davis & Sim who then went on to win the worker class. Novice jumping saw Janie Spicer and Madam Minton take a cracking spin round the course to win the class. I was timing the sj and also acting as bell, shouting ding ding for people to start, we must invest in a proper bell for next year! Open jumping was won by a male riding club member, shock horror and he's only just joined, Roy Orme & Platinum Pride.
The dressage went quite well and we must say a
big thank you to Celia Lewis who judged, as she stepped in at the last
moment when our judge hurt herself, we wish Margaret a speedy recovery.
Prelim 4 only had 1 entry, yes it's that man again Ringo, collecting his
penultimate rosette.
Prelim 10 saw, yes you guessed it Ringo, going for his final rosette of
the day. Novice 21 was won by Bev Gore & George, can't remember what his
posh name is!
The 1st of the combined training was won by Rachel & Sim.
The overall points Champion on the day was Ringo and Beck , well done you
two. I have to say I did try to get Becky to go wrong in one of the tests
as I was reading for her, but she carried on !
There were a few moments I remember, like seeing a loose horse moving well across the field, followed in hot pursuit by Rachel Frost, she had been talking to the dressage judge when her horse went walkabout, also Martines horse decided to do a bit of unaccompanied grazing. Tom, mine, took no notice of a big white plastic box, but thought a plie of grass cuttings were scary, who said horses don't have a sense of humour!! Sarah Longman had only just got to the dressage arena before she found herself in it, she had about 10 secs of working in, so well done Sarah and Jenny.
