Newsletter November 2007

Hello All, last newsletter for the year, with updates from the AGM.

Many Thanks to all those who attended the AGM, it's always nice to see as many people as possible there, plus your chance to have your say.

We say Goodbye and Thanks, to 3 of our busy 2006 committee members, Andy Deacon (vice Chair), Sarah Mongern (Treasurer) and Sally Webb. Many thanks to you for all your hard work on behalf of Brent Knoll members. There were Thank You presents for each of them. The new committee for 2007/8 is made up of the following brave souls!

As we only had 2 ponies in the Ridden section and we had really mega rosettes which we didn't want to waste, we gave the remaining 4 rosettes to the members left with the most points, these were, Chrissie Rideout & Tom Jones, Claire Nightingale & Artillero, Steph Boobyer & Tasker and Gwen Lloyd & Sandy, I think (I lost the plot a bit, thought Calypso was a pony, looks small to me!)

The Best New Member Rosette was won by Laura Boobyer

The Best Helper Rosette was won by Bryony Allen

Flowers were given to Members Maggie Fawcett, Lyn Woods & Jayne Millard for there help throughout the year.

The next thing is our Christmas Do, not much interest in the Rookery Manor night, so it was decided to have Christmas Drinks at Bevs house in BK, Thursday 13th December, 8pm as last year this was quite popular. It was suggested at the AGM we do a Festive American Supper theme, ie You bring a plate of something for the table, would suggest you don't bring mince pies or sausage rolls go for something you think might not be duplicated!! The drinks are provided by the club. Please let Bev/me know if you are coming ASAP, partners welcome as usual.

The Quiz & Supper night will be at my house in February, Friday 1st. Places will be a bit limited as sometimes it's a real squash, maybe BK should get me a bigger house?

Saturday 5th January we are having a New Years ride on the Mendips, blow away the old cebwebs or hangovers !! parking at the bottom of Burrington, in the Garden centre car park, just before the pub, 11am start, Hot refreshments on return. £3.50 BKRC £5 non members.

Area 12, Dressage is being held at Kingston Murward , if you are interested, please let Laura know, don't forget you need to have your membership renewed by then. Entries have to be in by 16th December to Stoneleigh. We hope to be hosting the Nov Indoor SJ Championships at The Hand EC on Saturday 16th February everybody is welcome to have a go and join as a team or individual entry, please get in touch with Laura tel; 07752 859839 as entries will need to be in soon and who's doing what! We will need HELP on the Day, you only need to be there for a few hours and it's not too demanding, letting people in/out or writing a score down, so Please let me know if you can help

We will be putting together a schedule for the coming years activities, so please let us know if there is anything you would like us to run, social, teaching whatever! Something new will be an evening visit to the Mendip Stud, to see the Western Riding in April, you will be able to have a go at Western riding on one of the school horses at the end of the demo, more details later.

We are looking into getting club jackets & numnahs, any ideas, style/colour etc. let us know.

On a sad note John & Pat Drinkwater have lost their lovely colt Janson of Joppa, the first Tri-coloured foal they have bred in many years of trying, to a form of colic. Janson had won over 63 rosettes, we all I'm sure send them our thoughts and love at such a sad time.

Enclosed ( if this came by post!) is a Membership form for the 2007/8 year, if this is email, please download from the web if I haven't managed to attach one!, please send it back asap as I need to get it off to BRC at Stoneleigh.

Well, I think that's it for now hope to see you at Bev's for a Christmas drink and gossip otherwise I wish you all, from all at BKRC, a Happy Christmas and a Successful New Year.
