Spring Show 29th April 2006 - Dressage Results

Saturday 29th April was a bright morning which was good news for those of us going to our Spring Show with Dressage at Badgworth Arena. I arrived at 8am, shortly followed by Richard my husband who was going to be on car park duty with Andy (BKs Vice Chairperson) and his partner Sarah who was entries secretary. Rowena Steady was right behind with a car full of Rosettes, and what lovely ones they were too!

The car park was filling up quickly and room at a premium, there was at one point no more space until someone left so Andy and Richard had their work cut out, Many Thanks to you both.

Entries were coming in a steady stream and classes were filling up. Our Judge for the Pony Ring, Viv Cullen, arrived nice and early for the 9.30 start, although she was beaten by her steward, Carar Tyer.  Pat and Katie Hanley were not far behind to judge the Horse ring which started at 10am.

The M & M class had to be split into Large & Small breeds as there were so many entries, this caused a delay and we had to break for lunch in Ring one so the Judge could get have a short break. This ring finished at about 2.15, so the Ridden classes couldn't start before 2.30. The horse ring finished just before 1.30, so Pat and Katie had chance to have a drink before going in with Viv to pick the Supreme In Hand Champion from both rings. Nice to see Brent Knoll members being placed in lots of the classes.

I telephoned our Ridden Judge Elaine Thomas,  to say don't rush as the class will be a bit late starting! The ridden classes were well attended as 7 was the least and 20 the most in the classes. Carar needed to go so I went to steward for Elaine.  We had to put them down one end of the arena to give riders a bit of space for a show, this also stopped the very novice having horses from cantering behind them and spooking them. The last of the ridden classes finished at 6.30pm, so quite a long day.

Many thanks to all who came, to the Judges who give up their time and to helpers, Andy, Richard, Sarah, Carar, Rowena and Pippa.

We did receive an anonymous email to our web site, www.bkrc.co.uk which said they had enjoyed the day but it was a shame people were not honest about what they had done as some of the ones in class 17, Very Novice (never to have been ridden in the ring) had been seen the week before in the same ring! We can't check this but rely on people being honest, although if you had sent a postal entry you might not have been in the ring before we received it,  tricky one that! The first 3 were all 4y.o so they shouldn't have done much anyway. There is a full list of results on the web, for showing  BK members are in bold type. There is also a report and results for the dressage, done by Rachel Frost who organised it.

Thanks for coming, our next show is Members Only Saturday 24th June, (still time to join if you want to come to that, schedule on web site) if not hope to see you all at our Open Show Sunday 6th August at Lympsham showground, (the schedule for Aug. 6th will be on the web shortly for you to download).

Bye for now

Hilary

Dressage

Tuesday's post brought a huge amount of entries meaning preliminary 7's class was by then already full, Wednesday's post was similar – after a mad panic and a chat with the judge Anna Gallie, it was decided to employ another judge for the walk and trot section if we could find someone at short notice, luckily Ceeli Miall re-jigged her morning lessons for Saturday and took on the task.

The competition ran smoothly on the day helped on by an ideal day of sunshine with a cool breeze.

The preliminary 7 walk & trot section had 20 competitors and was won by Christine Withers riding magic on 63% with the best member rosette going to Amanda Jarvis & harry with 54.5%.

Prelim 7 section B (novice) drew 19 riders competing to a very high standard, with local event rider Emily Lee winning by a wide margin with 82%, best member rosette was awarded to Lydia Prichard & lornty glen scarba with 59.5% with Kim Ursell & polly pocket just 0.5% behind that.

Prelim 7 section C (open) had a more sedate 9 entries and was won by K Dyer & bali on 73%, with the best member being awarded to Lou Smith & top gun on 59.5%.

Prelim 18 was much quieter with 15 entrants and was judged by Margret Gibbins. Section A was won by L Lee & perkins 68.7%, with Lydia & scabra picking up another best member with 55.4%.

Section B went to K Nutt & barney on 68.7%.

A big thanks to Kim Ursell , Bev & Camilla Gore for their help in setting up on Friday evening, Yvonne Eaves for writing on the day, and to Rowena Steady for the sorting the rosettes.

Rachel.
