.My background is totally different to the other committee members.  I have ridden all my life and my main love is racing.  I successfully point to pointed for many years, and now work as the jockey’s valet for the south west region, helping young upcoming jockeys.  Since retiring from race riding, I have enjoyed training my own horses for point to points, hunting and more recently, have enjoyed educating two young horses from foals to the ground work before backing (which will hopefully be this summer).  I joined the Riding Club a couple of years ago, when I was asked to show jump and cross country a friend’s horse.  This led to our team qualifying for the Riding Club Show Jumping championships, which I thoroughly enjoyed.  I have joined the committee so that I can help the Club continue with offering training and competition experiences to its members.

I joined the committee mid 2016. Having been a member for a few years, I wanted to put something back into a Club that had given me so much fun. I have been lucky enough to have had horses all my life and competed at various levels and in various disciplines. I gained my BHSAI in 1991 and spent many years teaching for the Pony Club in my spare time. I currently have four horses, my home-bred horse, Zest, who is currently on loan as he has had to retire from competitions due to injury; Scrumpy, a lovely coloured Quantock pony, who is also on loan; and then I have two Quantock youngsters, who came to me at weaning in October 2017 which I hope to back this summer.

Eventing is my main passion and I have evented at Novice/2* level on home produced horses. I rely on RC lessons to help me produce my young horses and soften some of the costs of training. I am passionate about high quality training and raising aspirations. I am currently training officer for Area 12 and was one of the founders of Equestrian Training South West. I believe we can make BKRC a high quality club that helps members progress further than they imagined and have fun in the process.

I joined the club beginning of 2019.  After participating in many of the events BKRC held, I had so much fun and made many friends I decided to become a member. I have my 2 pride & joys, Dolly, 12 and Indigo, 7 who both tend to keep me on my toes in one way or another. (that’s if they’re not standing on them) but equally they both make me very proud. Dolly was my first pony who has taught me so much, and I owe everything to her.  We love to do a bit of everything mainly competing at dressage although we have a new found love of Cross Country so who knows what might happen.  BKRC has been so beneficial for both of the girls - thanks to the lessons the club offer with a diverse range of instructors it’s enabled me to not only improve my riding ability but to also boost my horses confidence and introduce new skills that I didn’t know we’d have. I believe if we all do our part BKRC could continue going strength to strength whilst we continue enjoying and making memories with our 4 legged friends.

I’ve got two mares who take up majority of my time! I’ve recently got Paris who is a lovely stamp and will hopefully go on to be a great all rounder.  My other horse, Lucy, the aim is just to get her to enjoying her ridden life. Becoming a member of BKRC is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and feel that my girls will only excel from the opportunities that come from being within the club!

My first year back joining a local riding club after many years riding and competing up in Nottingham. I was a keen eventer for many years, and now have a youngster who I hope to bring up through the levels. My other boy is a rehab project but I am looking forward to having lessons and entering some competitions with him. I shall be looking after the bookings of lessons this year and hope to provide lessons for everyone of all ages, abilities and interests. BKRC offers a diverse range of activities and I want to keep that going so that everyone can learn in a happy and fun environment with some of the best instructors around who we are so lucky to have as part of our team. I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone and making some new friends.

Proud owner of 4 very special equines - Xanthos, Dragonfly, Dwayne (the floof!) & Kevin - who each have different paths they follow. If i am not working alongside Rob in Equine Photography i will be found playing ponies at the yard! I have been around horses since birth, and after a 6 year break i jumped back in buying 2 foals followed by a few other fuzzy noses. Over the last couple of years i have dabbled in showing with each of the horses in various sections at different levels picking up new skills, and now my 2 youngsters are all grown up we have re-joined our local club.

I work as a qualified veterinary nurse. I absolutely love my job and generally being around animals. In my spare time you will find me inseparable from my little cob elsa! Elsa is a special girl, she is blind in one eye! She doesn't let this stop her, and we compete together at BD prelim. We also enjoy jumping, hacking and fun rides. Elsa and I enjoy all the lessons that the riding club has to offer and these help considerably when practicing for our upcoming events.

I have been a member or on the committee (in a variety of roles) of Brent Knoll for the last 25 years, it may be more! I’ve always enjoyed the club and seen it progress over the years.

I now have 2 horses Tom my homebred who’s 22 and Flora my brothers ex racehorse. Flora and I do a bit of dressage, and showing being successful at the North Somerset show.  I work in the Paediatric intensive care unit at Bristol children’s hospital and having retired and returned part time I feel I  have time to help the committee.

I look forward to meeting new and old members when we are allowed!
